Welcome from the OPHA President

Welcome again to the Ohio Public Association Website.  We are hopeful that this new website will meet the growing needs of our association and your needs as an individual member.

This is an exciting time for Public Health in Ohio.  We have experienced new membership growth and we have sponsored advocacy days at the State Capitol.  We have sponsored Nursing and Vital Statistics conferences and helped to sponsor the Spring Conference.  These networking events are the core services of your association.

It has been a busy year as president elect.  Many thanks to Claire Boettler, Dom Frissora, Rosemary Chaudry and Debbie Wright (our executive team) for their constant advice, over the past year.  In addition, I need to mention our incredibly dynamic staff, Lois Hall and Jamie Weaver, who make your association so much more than anyone realizes.  As Lois would say, “We are Public Health!”

Please take a moment to review our new website and focus on this being the best year ever for Public Health in Ohio.  Let’s get engaged.  I would advise you to become familiar with our website and reach out to the Governing Council Members and Committee Chairpersons.  Getting involved with one of our sections or committees is the best way to support Public Health in Ohio. Also, ask a friend or a colleague to get involved.  We always need more members and voices to achieve our goals.

I’m looking forward to an exciting year.  I hope you are, too!  On behalf of all our members we want our association to be strong and leading the nation with our initiatives.  Wishing you great health!
